Nature and Bird Watching Training for Fethiye Bilsem Students: MAKÜ Environment Workshop Event

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Wildlife Protection, Rehabilitation Application and Research Center, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry 4th Regional Directorate and Fethiye Science and Art Center, organized an event due to the Environmental Workshop.
On Saturday, March 30, 2024, Mustafa ÖZEN, a forest conservation officer from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry 4th Regional Directorate, students from Fethiye Science and Art Center, their parents, and Science Advisor Sona ÖZLEN participated in the bird watching event held at Çalış Bird Paradise in Fethiye.
Bilsem students were given fieldwork training on the use of equipment such as binoculars, telescopes, and cameras used for bird watching by the Center Director Dr. Lecturer Yasemin ÖZDEMİR. Özdemir emphasized that environmental and bird watching awareness plays an important role in the process of discovering nature and gaining environmental sensitivity for 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students, stating that children in this age group learn to pay more attention to their environment by observing wildlife. Thus, she expressed that they can contribute to the conservation of nature and the maintenance of the health of bird species' habitats.
During the event, which attracted great interest from Fethiye Bilsem students and parents, species such as Cormorant, Mallard, Silver Gull, Kingfisher, and Little Egret were observed very closely during the bird watching at Çalış Bird Paradise.
At the end of the event, a gift was presented to the center director Özdemir, who was the executor of the event, by Fethiye Bilsem Science Advisor Sona ÖZLEN.
